A few photographers who have worked with me, know one of my favorite challenges is the details. How am I going to make that wedding cake look different, or the ever popular wedding rings, or the glassware on the table. All this before guests begin arriving from their cocktails. My choice of lens 80 percent of the time is the Canon L series 100mm macro. This allows me to get closer to a subject, working with shape and lighting. Interesting lighting is what we love. For example, when I view a table setup. Are there any interesting gels illuminating the walls? This can create an interesting background for your subject. My photo of the wine glasses was taken using the spotlight being projected onto a wall. Using the macro lens allows me to create beautiful, colorful bokeh with wedding rings or interesting reflections on glassware. By studying the location, you can produce some very creative photos.
